Our Story:
A Legacy of Tradition
Our journey began in 1981 when the founder of Maharaja Telford arrived in the UK from Bangladesh, carrying a passion for sharing the rich flavors of Bengali cuisine. In 1981, the dream took shape with the opening of Maharaja, a restaurant dedicated to authentic Bengali dishes and warm hospitality.
Rafique Uddin, born in 1970, took over the business and scaled it to new heights, ensuring the restaurant remained a beloved part of the Telford community. Under his leadership, Maharaja flourished, offering a blend of tradition and excellence.
In 2024, the legacy passed to the third generation, Zubair Ahmed, born in 1995. Zubair now leads Maharaja with a vision to honor its rich heritage while embracing the future. As we move forward, Maharaja Telford continues to be a family-run restaurant where tradition and taste come together.
